三峡大坝     
The Three Gorges Great Dam

         世界最大的水利枢纽工程，位于西陵峡中断庙南宽谷的宜昌三斗坪镇，具有防洪、发电、航运、养殖、供水、旅游等巨大的综合效益。大坝长1983米，坝顶高程185米，正常蓄水位175米，总库容393亿立方米。电站装机26台，年发电量840亿千瓦小时，整个工程于1994年动工，1997年截流，2003年开始蓄水发电，2009年全面竣工。双向五级船闸十个，可通过万吨级船队。总落差113米，泄洪时形成宽483米，高94米壮观的人工大瀑布。大坝的建成，在长江上形成长达600公里的巨型水库，成为世界罕见的新景观。参观景点：坛子岭园区、船闸、泄洪、平湖、电站、截流纪念园等。

       Stood in the north of Zigui County in Hubei province, the Dam is in the middle of Xiling Gorge, which has 1983M in length and 185M in width. With total reservoir capacity of 39.3 billion  stere,  the level of impoundment is 175M. The annual capacity of generating electricity is 84 billion kwh. The project has the tremendous comprehensive benefit as: controlling flood, generating electricity, shipping, breeding, water supply and so on.
